Consultation and Diagnosis

What does
endometriosis
mean
for me?

About 3% of all premenopausal
women are affected by endometriosis.
A correct diagnosis and assessment
of disease severity is important.

The field of gynecology deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female sexual and reproductive organs - i.e. the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Many benign changes such as endometriosis, fibroids or inflammatory processes can impair fertility on the one hand and quality of life on the other. Cancers and their possible spread represent a significant threat to health. The correct diagnosis of benign changes and the early detection of tumors are the prerequisite for individually tailored therapy - conservative or surgical.

I have special training in the use of ultrasound to assess ovarian changes (IOTA diploma) and am a co-author of internationally valid guidelines for the diagnosis of endometriosis (ESHRE guidelines, IDEA study group). Modern ultrasound techniques and the corresponding professional experience should help my patients - to make the right decision through the correct diagnosis in order to enable the right treatment.
